How to feel better when you’re feeling down

Everyone has times when they just don’t feel like themselves. It doesn’t matter whether you are battling with a low mood, or whether you are trying to deal with anxiety and stress because it’s tough to bounce back when you just don’t feel like yourself. If you want to make a change then this is the guide for you.

Have a Break

Sometimes, you just need to walk away from whatever it is you are doing. If you can do this for a few minutes each day, then this can help you when you are feeling down or stressed. Researchers have also found that sometimes, taking short breaks can help you to rocket your attention span as well as your ability to pay attention. Studies have found that those who take 5 minute breaks tend to do better when compared to those who do not take breaks at all.

Take a Walk

It is recommended that you get around 150 minutes of exercise every single week. Getting out and moving around is the best way for you to improve your mood and it can work wonders for your physical health as well as your mental health. It is also a good way for you to feel as though you are in the here and now. Physical activity has been linked to lower levels of depression as well as improved mood.

Turn up the Music

Listening to music can easily be a very good experience but there’s also evidence to show that it can have a huge impact on your mental health. Studies have shown that if you listen to upbeat songs then this can boost your mood and your general happiness level. So the next time you are feeling down in the dumps, make sure that you break out your favourite playlist to see if it helps you.

Make a Change

Sometimes, you just need to make a big change. If you are feeling down about money, why not see if it is possible for you to apply for a new job? If you are concerned about your weight, then you can easily sign up for weight loss programs. Either way, you don’t have to see results right away. Sometimes just the feeling of knowing that you are making a change is enough to boost your mental health. If you can focus on this, then you can help you to feel way better, and it can also work wonders for your state of mind.

Talk it out

If you are feeling really down, then make sure that you talk it out with someone. When you do, you will soon find that they can guide you through any issues you might be having, and they can also give you a shoulder to cry on. If you can try and make the effort to tell someone how you feel, then this will help you to stop yourself from getting so down, and it may even provide you with a light at the end of the tunnel, so keep that in mind.
