Things To Do In Stratford-Upon-Avon

I recently took a day trip to Stratford Upon-Avon and it was such a lovely day! I'd have loved to have spent longer there but had to get back. I wanted to share some of the things I got up to whilst I was there, and what I would have done if I had more time.

River walk

This was one of my favourite things to do. Luckily, the weather was nice that day so walking by the river was perfect. Just watching all the swans and finding picturesque trees, and little hidden benches where you could watch the world go by. There were lots of people practising river sports so that was interesting to watch to.

ShakesPaws Cat Cafe

This was the best part of my day for sure! This wasn't even a planned thing. I literally gasped as I crossed the road of a cobbled back street when I saw a sign for a "cat cafe". I had wanted to visit one for so long! There was a £5 entry fee, and then there were food and drinks you could buy too.
All the cats were so cute! They were named after Shakespeare characters which is such a nice idea!

The cats were so chilled out and all of them came to say hello at some point. I especially liked the 3 cats that looked identical which all walked around together in their own little group :') Would definitely recommend! It's also decorated very funky!

Shakespeare's Grave

I would have love to have seen this but the doors to the church were locked so we were unable to get in. The graveyard itself was still very interesting to walk around!

Shakespeare's House

This is something I would have liked to have done had I have had more time in Stratford. Also you do have to pay to go in, if you're really into Shakespeare then it is of course worth the money but if it's not really your thing then you might prefer to just look at the pretty exterior.

Anne Hathaway's house

Fun fact. I thought this was Anne Hathaway as in the actress and wanted to know why "she was so important"

Xmas Shop

I kid you not, there is a Christmas shop open all year round and it is the most festive shop you'll ever see. Like really traditional, red, white, gold and green Christmas, with additional Christmas music playing. The Dream.

Harry Potter Shop

OK all Harry Potter super fans need to visit this shop. It's AMAZING! I wish I had pictures but only had a quick glance around but it was so cool. They have cloaks to buy, books, cauldrons, wands! Everything the biggest Harry Potter fan could ever need. Google it!

High Street

The high street itself is really beautiful. They have independent shops that fit in with the vintage vibes perfectly and then modern branded shops but made to fit in nicely with the Stratford scene. They have a great Lush, Waterstones, Starbucks etc. There's a lot of choice for places to eat too, you can really make a day of it! One thing I really like about Stratford is that no matter how busy it is, it's always a nice atmosphere. On sunny days, people flock to it, but it's never stressful, the whole place just comes alive with the sound of music.

Sorry this wasn't a more detailed post, I would have liked more photos, as I said, I didn't get as long there as I'd like, but I'm sure I'll revisit again, in fact I'm certain. Maybe have an overnight stay next time! I know they do a lovely Mercure hotel there, although I've been warned...it's haunted.
