Homemade Chamomile and Honey Face Mask For Acne

I have suffered with acne for around 7 years now and I can assure you I have tried every product available to sort it!

In the end I went to the doctors, they diagnosed it as hormonal and prescribed me Lymecycline. My skin is in a much better way now and I'm glad I don't have to rely on skincare products that cost a fortune and have so many ingredients in that completely dry out your face.

Acne products aren't always good for you and although they have all the ingredients written on the packaging, do we really know what we are putting on our faces?

When I do shop for skincare nowadays, I tend to try and get paraben free, organic, natural products without all the chemicals.

But there is no better solution to this than making it completely from scratch yourself. That way, you know EXACTLY what is going on your face. You know every ingredient in the product and you know there are no 'nasties' damaging your skin.

Today I'm going to share a recipe to make your own chamomile and honey anti-bacterial face mask.

Honey is a natural antibacterial so that's going to help the bacteria building up in your pores causing the acne!

The benefits of chamomile are outstanding. It's an anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, antiseptic and an antioxidant making this a fabulous ingredient to use on sore irritated skin. It's very soothing and calming. This is also one of the reasons you see it so often in eye creams, it helps reduce any redness and puffiness.

You will need :-

2 chamomile teabags
Honey (aim for manuka or raw but normal honey will do the trick too)
1 lemon or lemon juice
Nutritional yeast (available from supermarkets)

First up make a cup of tea with both of your teabags (don't drink it no matter how tempted!).
Let it cool completely. I put mine out on the balcony to cool it quicker. Or if you're feeling fancy, put ice cubes in it!
I wouldn't recommend blowing on it. You could be there a while.

In a small bowl, add one teaspoon of yeast and one tablespoon of honey and mix together.
Yeast is great for hormonal acne around your period because its full of vitamin B.
It should look like wet sand and smell like heaven on earth (I like the smell of honey).

Squeeze in some lemon juice (not too much as it will turn too watery). This will help brighten the skin and reduce any acne scarring.

Once your tea has cooled, pour in some of the tea (don't throw it all in! Start by adding teaspoons at a time until you meet the right texture, I find usually only 1-2 teaspoons, the reason you use two teabags and only so little water is so that its very 'chamomiley').

Pour in enough for it to create a thick paste. You still want it to be fluid enough for it to be able to spread nicely across your skin but not watered-down.
If it any point it has turned too watery then just add a bit more yeast.

You can now apply it! A thin layer is enough and keep it on for 15-30 minutes depending on how much time you have and how soft you want your skin!
It may or may not look like puke and might not smell the nicest but it's very good for your skin so worth it!

Rinse it off, pat your skin dry and use a moisturiser afterwards.

Voila!

Super easy. And your skin will feel lovely and smooth! You should wake up the next morning with less redness :) Last time I made this mask I got complimented on how fresh and glowy my skin looked. This is a great treatment to do once a week and super cheap! You don't need any particular fancy chamomile tea making this a very affordable face mask.

Plus you know everything that is in it!

I hope you enjoyed this recipe and please let me know if it works for you!

  2. Regardless of whether you eat a great deal of greasy nourishments or a ton of chocolate and crisps has no impact in acne despite the fact that the facts demonstrate that eating admirably can just profit your appearance, acne (in the main example) isn't brought about by what you eat. acne scars and how to treat them
