Make Your Own Morning Energy Smoothie (Dairy-Free)

If you're anything like me, you struggle to wake up of a morning.
I don't struggle to get out of bed, it's STAYING out of bed I have problems with!

I have a very very slight amount of energy in the morning which I try and boost by doing Yoga (it helps!) but once I sit down, that's it, I want my bed.

Below I have a super easy recipe (suitable for vegans) on how to make your own breakfast smoothie which will boost your energy levels as it's packed full of energy-boosting goodness!

You will need:

1/3 of a banana (or a whole banana if you want to make 3 servings)
130g of frozen mango chunks (available to buy in bags from most supermarkets)
40g of frozen blueberries
15g of Muesli
160ml of apple juice
1 tsp of chia seeds
Protein powder (optional)
A blender

Peel and chop the banana.

You can choose to buy fresh fruit but I personally prefer frozen so it keeps the smoothie super cold, almost like an iced drink. I just find it more refreshing! Or defrost the frozen ones if you wish! I had to use fresh fruit in this post as my local Lidl didn't have frozen :)

If you're using fresh mango be careful cutting it! Cut around the stone and remove the outer layer.

Set up your blender and put all the ingredients in (it'll look a little unappealing at first!) and blend until it's nice and smooth! Once blended, it should be a nicer berry colour)

Pour it into your favourite glass and voila! A super energising breakfast smoothie.

I told you it was super easy! So simple to have as an everyday staple.

It has a lot of bits in it so if that's not your thing, I wouldn't recommend the muesli and chia seeds.

You can mix this recipe up and try different ingredients. I love making it more 'berry' by using frozen raspberries instead of mango and using cranberry juice instead of apple. It's very sweet!

Alternatively you can add some protein powder to make it super healthy and build some muscle. Perfect for after morning yoga sessions!

I know a lot of us will be on the January health kick so this is a good one to add to your diet

Let me know if you give it a go, I'd love to see you guys try it.

  1. Nice recipe Stacie, it's full of antioxidants which is great for clearing out the system! We just bought our mom a nutri Ninja and she is excited to try out different smoothie recipes. I will have to send her the one you made, thanks for sharing!
