Now I am an autumn girl through and through.
Summer on the other hand...not so much.
However...this year I am ready for it! Bring it on.
I cannot wait for sunshine, sangria and sandy beaches.
I think since living in Devon I have enjoyed summers much more, there wasn't a fat lot to do in The Midlands without having to travel somewhere, otherwise it was just the nearest beer garden.
But here there are beaches and seaside towns all around you so it doesn't cost the world to have a lovely day out. Whether it's sitting by the river reading a book or taking a walk through the woods.
Another reason I'm so excited for summer is the clothing of course! Flowy dresses, bohemian jewellery, braided hair and not forgetting the bright colours and sass-tastic patterns.
Yull was actually set up in 2011 by a young lady called Sarah Watkinson-Yull who was studying at university.
Her passion was shoes and she wanted to make a business of it and she received funding from The Princes Trust and has never looked back since.
Yull Shoes have even won the Lloyds Enterprise award and have since opened a studio in London.
The shoes are made with a lot of pride and joy and only the finest materials. They are very well cared for from start to finish and remind me very much of a cute little boutique shoe store.
I love how they are quirky and unique yet still sleek and designer.
When I first saw the Yull website I was immediately attracted to the Margate shoes.
I've had a slight obsession with palm trees lately and so these were screaming out at me.
I'm head over heels (hehehe) in love with the colours! I'm not usually a huge 'bright colour' kinda gal but the green and yellow work so well together and they look pretty nice with my bright orange hair too!
I knew I had to have them so they were sent my way and when they arrived in the worlds cutest and most relatable shoe box my love became apparent. They really put a lot of effort into the packaging to make sure they arrive safely and beautifully. I like that in a brand.
They were soooo cute. Really dainty and feminine but also very bold and statement.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, I do love a statement shoe.
They are very good quality and fit me perfectly.
They are very good quality and fit me perfectly.
They do feel as though they might rub a little at first but it's 2017 and there are lots of little gizmos and gadgets for that kinda thang.
It's impossible to find a pair of sandals this shape that don't rub at first.
Usually with shoes that have the hangy bit at the back (I have such a way with words)
they slip off super easily as I have my little midget trotters but these fit snugly without cutting in. This means I can walk comfortably without having to curl my toes to keep them from falling off and sending me flying!
The only issue with bright colours is finding a way to wear them.
A lot of bright colours can clash but if it's done correctly then this can be avoided.
I started looking through my summer wardrobe (which by the way really got me excited) and started pulling out some items I thought might look good with my new shoes.
My orange maxi dress. All the tropical colours together!
As it's long and all orange the shoes really add a little pop of colour! Loved this.
PS: can we take a moment to worship my legs in this picture please?
As the dress was quite plain I mixed it up with a variety of bright colours by wearing the shoes with my H&M Coachella dress. I didn't get to wear this as much as I would have liked last year so I'm going to wear it till it wears thin this summer.
Also just because the shoes are a palm tree pattern, who says you can't clash plants? I teamed it with a floral blouse and actually loved this combo. If you are wondering why only my legs feature in this blog post, lets just say me and my face had fell out over hormonal differences and so it wasn't happy to take part in this post. My condolences.
I think one of my favourites outfits to pair the shoes with was my budget £10 Primark striped beach dress. I can't wait to wear this when it gets hot!
I figured that we don't always have to team bright colours with other bright colours. That's what black was invented for right? Black goes with everything!
But surprisingly one of my very favourite outfit choices whilst looking through my summer wardrobe was my H&M trousers. Completely different pattern, completely different colours yet somehow it works?
I basically think I'm trying to say that statement shoes are the way forward this summer.
I always think when buying statement shoes 'whatever will I wear them with?'
This just goes to show that even the most lurid shoes can be toned down or dressed up and go with a lot more patterns and colours than you might think.
Ever heard the phrase 'confidence is key?'
Just wear them and strut. You'll be fine.
I also loved a lot of the other shoes from Yull which I shall link below for you to browse.
I feel like there really is a pair for everyone.
